Mercury Marine Expands the V10 Verado Series with a New 425hp Outboard and a New Version of the 350hp Model
FOND DU LAC, Wisconsin (July 22, 2025) – Mercury Marine, a subsidiary of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), announced today the latest expansion of the award-winning Verado® outboard series with the introduction of the all-new 425hp V10 Verado and a new version of the 350hp V10 Verado. Both models set new performance standards in the high-horsepower outboard category, offering exceptional power, acceleration, and fuel efficiency while maintaining Mercury’s tradition of seamless and quiet operation.

All-New 425hp V10 Verado
The new 425hp model offers class-leading acceleration and significant weight advantages compared to a 450hp competitor. In Mercury’s tests, the following were established:
- Acceleration: 3 seconds faster acceleration from 0-48 km/h compared to a 450hp engine (tested on an 8-meter, 2,300 kg center console boat with a heavy load).
- Weight: Measured 115 kg lighter than a competitive 450hp engine (XL 25-inch models).
- Charging Power: Measured as having the highest efficiency in its class regarding charging power, equipped with a 150-amp alternator.
- Noise Levels: Found to be 22% quieter during cruising compared to a competitive 450hp engine.
New Version of the V10 Verado 350hp
According to Mercury’s tests, the updated 350hp model demonstrated the following results:

Top Speed: Achieved a top speed 4.4 km/h higher than a competitive 350hp engine under light load.

Acceleration: Measured 4 seconds faster from 0-48 km/h and 17.8 seconds faster from 0 to top speed compared to a competitive 350hp engine under heavy load.

Mid-range Performance: Delivered 15% faster acceleration from 0-80 km/h than the existing Mercury 350hp model due to improved mid-range torque.

Power Generation: Produced 4 times more electricity while cruising compared to a competitive 350hp engine.

Noise Levels: Operated 40% quieter during cruising than a competitive 350hp engine.
Suitability for Repowering or New Installations
Built on Mercury’s compact V10 platform, these engines are designed for versatile installation:

Compact Design: Both engines offer a 26-inch center-to-center mounting, making them ideal for repowering boats previously equipped with L6 Verado or competitive outboards.

Advanced Controls: Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) comes as standard on both the new 425hp and the updated 350hp Verado models.

Precision Handling: Users have the option to add Joystick Piloting for enhanced control and accuracy.
